Thank You and Goodbye

After more than four years of development and active use, our application – along with other well-known User ID Lookup tools – has been deactivated by Discord. According to Discord, these tools are considered to be in violation of Sections 4 and 5b of the Developer Terms of Service.
We know that technically, these guidelines have existed for years, however, they have not been enforced on tools of that kind – and even Discord staff used them sometimes.

Following this recent enforcement, we have decided to discontinue the project. We do not see any more sense in investing time and resources, when Discord has clearly chosen to take action against our tool.

Our appeal for reactivation was, sadly but not unexpected, declined, using a generic response, without any engagement regarding our proposed improvements or our offer to completely remove the disputed functionality.
It’s disappointing to see how the relationship between Discord and independent developers has changed in recent years. This shift has made many developers reconsider whether it’s still worth building on the platform.

However, even though we are disappointed with the treatment received from Discord, we really appreciate the support from our users. Thank you so much to everyone who supported, shared, and regularly used DiscordLookup throughout the years.
If you’d like to continue supporting our work, take a look at our Discord bot EasyPoll – a powerful tool for creating advanced polls with significantly more functionality and flexibility than Discord’s native poll feature.
